He was released after the season and signed with the Baltimore Orioles, but got only two at bats that year after trying to come back from a broken finger . Cummings retired after the2005 season.

Cummings was going to give it one more try when he went overseas 2006 to play in the TML (Taiwan Major League)  for La New Bears team. Cummings decided that being so far away from his family was not worth it in Taiwan.Cummings came back to Tarpon Springs Florida home at that time.

That when Midre decided he needed to spend more time with his sons Mijon & Mikel playing in little league. But his wife Annette and a group of parents had other plans for Midre on the baseball field. They notice that Cummings had some special talent working with their kids on the field .....

From that summer of 2006 Midre Cummings and wife Annette started the Hit & Run baseball teams.
